• Une des principales vocations du Festival Pablo Casals est de promouvoir de nouveaux talents, de faire vivre la musique et d'animer le monde de la création contemporaine. Créer un concours international de composition musicale s'est ainsi inscrit naturellement dans les desseins artistiques du festival. Depuis sa création en 2005, plus de 500 compositeurs du monde entier (Europe, Corée du Sud, Etats-Unis, Chine, Amérique du Sud...) ont proposé une œuvre inédite, écrite pour une formation du trio au sextuor. En hommage au Maître violoncelliste Pablo Casals, les membres du jury ont souhaité que le violoncelle soit instrument obligé.

• One of the main vocations of the Pablo Casals Festival is to promote new talents, to make music alive and to support contemporary creation trends. Organizing an international composition competition came naturally to our artistic purposes. Since its creation in 2005, more than 500 composers worldwide (Europe, North Korea, United States, China, South America) have created a piece for any ensemble from trio to sextet. As homage to the Maestro Pablo Casals, cello is an obligatory instrument.

• La composition musicale doit être une combinaison de trois à six instruments, d'une durée approximative de 15 minutes, choisis parmi les suivants : violon, alto, violoncelle (obligatoire), flûte, clarinette, hautbois, basson, cor, piano.

• The competitors are invited to submit one new chamber music composition, lasting about 15 minutes, in any formation for three to six instruments. Admitted instruments: violin, viola, cello (obligatory), flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, French horn, piano.

• Le concours est ouvert aux compositeurs de toutes nationalités, nés après le 6 avril 1973.

• The competition is open to composers of all nationalities, born after the 6th of April 1973.

• Les œuvres sélectionnées par la direction du concours seront interprétées à Prades en création mondiale devant le jury en concert public le samedi 6 avril 2013. Le candidat s'engage à présenter une oeuvre n'ayant jamais été donnée en concert public avant le 6 avril 2013.

• The selected works will be performed in Prades as a World Premiere in public and in presence of the jury, on Saturday the 6^th of April 2013. The candidate will present a work that has never been performed in public before the 6th of April 2013.

• Le Grand Prix est de 12 000 euros. Les prix finalistes sont de 1 500 euros.

• The Great Prize is 12 000 euros. The Finalists Prize is 1 500 euros.

• Le lauréat sera invité à la 60ème édition du Festival Pablo Casals de Prades et l’œuvre primée sera présentée en concert aux festivaliers, proposée à d'autres festivals et à différents éditeurs.

• The prizewinner will be invited to the 60th edition of the Prades Pablo Casals Festival and the awarded work will be presented to the festival listeners. The work will also be suggested to other festivals and editors.

• Pas de frais d'inscription. Date limite d'inscription: 2 novembre 2012.

• No fees for registration. Deadline to apply: November the 2nd, 2012.
