The Têt valley includes several cities and villages proud of their rich patrimony : abbeys, priories, roman churches, baroque altarpieces, military architecture...at the foot of mount Canigou , in the middle of a natural an splendid setting bathed by the sun of Roussillon .
As a major cultural event of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the Pablo Casals Festival is meant to become a cultural promoter and to allow the deprived populations to access a high standard of culture.
To this effect a “Pablo Casals Festival committee of cities and villages in Conflent” has been constituted as a support of the Festival in order to make this Festival an event backed by all the people.
The committee objectives are principally :
· To give a better information about their patrimony and increase a consciousness of its exceptional value in the fields of culture and economy.
· To help the Festival organize events to the benefit of the villagers otherwise deprived of cultural activities.
· Every year, a score of concerts take place in the villages ; half of them are entrance-free.
In the same way, actions are conducted in the school system with the help of music teachers and contributors.
