Biography : András ADORJAN Flute Born in Budapest, András ADORJAN left his native country for Denmark in 1956. He started studying dentistry, and graduated in 1968, in Copenhagen. At the same time, he started musical studies with Jean-Pierre Rampal and Aurčle Nicolet. In 1968 he was the winner of the « Jacob Gade Prize » in Copenhagen and was laureate of the «Montreux Interna¬tional Flute Competition». In 1971, he was awarded the «First Grand Prize» of the «Paris International Flute Competition» and then entered an international career. While he still played flute solo with outstanding orchestras in Stockholm, Colo¬gne, Baden-Baden and Munich, he played soloist with the best chamber and symphonic orchestras. He also gave classes all over the world and, in 1987, he was appointed teacher at the Musikhochschule of Cologne and since 1996 of Munich. Equally involved in chamber music, he is regularly invited to the major festivals. András ADORJAN discovered (or rediscovered), published, played and recorded numerous lost compositions of Benda, Bloch, Danzi, Devienna, Doppler, Gie¬seking, Hummel, Mendelssohn, Mercadante, Moscheles, Reger, Reinecke, Roman, Spohr, Ziel¬che, Zinck. His performance inspired contemporary composers, namely Dieter Acker, Georges Barboteu, Gunnar Berg, Edison Denisov, Paul Engel, Jindrich Feld, Lars Graugĺrd, Wilfried Hiller, Vagn Holmboe, Jan Koet¬sier, Noël Lee, Miklós Maros, Alfred Schnittke, Sven Erik Wer¬ner, Jörg Widmann. More than 100 recordings with Denon, Erato, Lyrinx, Obligat, Orfeo, RCA, Schwann-Koch, Skarbo, Sony, Traversič¬res, Tudor, Virgin (German Record Critics prize Prize in 1988) testify the art of András ADORJAN. |
